Dr. Miller graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto in 1973 and Doctor of Optometry from University of Waterloo in 1977. Following that Dr. Miller stayed at Waterloo and completed a Post Doctoral Residency in Clinical Optometry with emphasis in Primary Care before starting practice in Guelph. Before and after completing Optometry School Dr. Miller provided optometric services to various first nation communities in the Sioux Lookout Zone in northwestern Ontario. He has been active in the Ontario Association of Optometrists as a volunteer committee member and elected board member. Dr. Miller is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the Canadian Association of Optometrists. In the summer, when not at Edinburgh Optometry Clinic or at home, Dr. Miller can be found kayaking on the “mighty” Speed River. In the winter, Coach Bob can be found in local gyms coaching Basketball.

Dr. MacNeill received her honours undergraduate degree in Health Sciences and Biology concurrently with her degree of Optometry at the University of Waterloo. During her last two years of training, she was involved in running clinical research trials at the Centre for Contact Lens Research at the School of Optometry. She continued her work at the Centre after graduation on a part-time basis as lead researcher on several clinical trials leading to publication and conference presentation. Dr. MacNeill moved to Guelph upon graduation where she joined Drs. Miller and Timpano in practice. She has been actively involved in the community since that time with a particular interest in working with youth and adults with physical and mental challenges. She is also involved in several local sports leagues as a volunteer, and currently sits on a local school Board as well as being involved with the College of Optometrists of Ontario’s Quality Assurance Program. Dr. MacNeill enjoys all aspects of patient care. She has a passion for promoting the importance of eye care from age 0 to 100 within the community at large. Dr. MacNeill and her husband Daryl have three children, all of whom are also very actively involved in the community.

Dr. Iley completed his optometry training at the University of Waterloo School of Optometry in 2003 as well as a previous 4-year honours undergraduate degree in Health Sciences & Biology. During his training, Dr. Iley spent 8 months doing glaucoma clinical research trials under the supervision of Dr. John Flanagan – an internationally-renowned expert in glaucoma. Dr. Iley continues to hold an Adjunct Clinical Faculty position at the School of Optometry, University of Waterloo and is actively involved in both optometry and medical education. He has lectured to students, practicing optometrists, nurses and family physicians across the country. Dr. Iley has a particular interest in ocular disease (diseases of the eye) as well as pediatric eye care (newborn-12 years of age). As an active member of both the Ontario and Canadian Association of Optometrists, Dr. Iley has volunteered on public and professional education committees and has represented the profession at various conferences and meetings. Dr. Iley and his wife Nadine, have one son and twin daughters, and enjoy many activities with their family — music and acting, downhill skiing, mountain biking, water sports, and anything else that gets them outdoors.

Dr. Catherine Wright completed her Bachelor of Science in 2011 followed by a Doctor of Optometry in 2017 at the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science. As part of her optometric training, she completed an an externship at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas where she managed many ocular diseases including glaucoma, diabetes and dry eye. She is currently completing a post-graduate residency program at University of Waterloo in Cornea and Contact Lenses, which involves direct patient care as well as lecturing and tutoring. She has volunteered her time providing eye care services to underprivileged populations in Bucharest, Romania through Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) as well as provided vision screenings for athletes competing in the Special Olympics sponsored by Lions Club International. Outside of optometry, her interests include: family, beach volleyball, yoga, basketball, camping, music and painting.

Dr. Timpano graduated from the School of Optometry at the University of Waterloo in 1981. Upon graduation he opened his practice in Guelph. His practice has evolved into the multi-practitioner practice that it is today. Dr. Timpano is a member of both the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the Canadian Association of Optometrists, having held a variety of roles within the Ontario Association. He is an active member of the College of Optometrists and volunteers as a practice coach. Dr. Timpano and his wife Bernadette reside in Guelph and are the proud parents of 5 children and 2 grandchilden. His interests outside of optometry are woodworking (furniture design and construction), road bike cycling, and family activities.

Dr. Melissa Furfaro was born and raised in Guelph. She concurrently completed her Bachelor of Science at the University of Waterloo and graduated with Honours with her Doctor of Optometry in the Spring of 2010. At graduation, she received the Alcon Continuing Professional Education award. During her optometric training, Dr. Furfaro had the privilege of completing an internship at Parkland Health & Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Here, she gained extensive knowledge on the diagnosis, treatment and management of many ocular diseases, including diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and macular degeneration. Shortly after graduation, Dr. Furfaro relocated to Nova Scotia to join a practice in the town of Antigonish. She practiced at a small family clinic there for three years, and acquired a keen interest in pediatric eye examinations. Together with her colleague, they initiated and developed a dry eye clinic at the practice. She was actively involved with the Nova Scotia Association of Optometrists, serving on the Practice Innovations and Public Education committees. Dr. Furfaro has a strong desire to provide optometric care to those in underprivileged communities and countries. She worked with the local Early Years program to provide eye exams for preschool children in a rural Nova Scotia community. She has also volunteered with organizations such as ICARE International and Canadian Vision Care and has traveled to rural Mexico and Jamaica on eye care missions. Dr. Furfaro is delighted to be back home in Guelph and part of the wonderful team at Edinburgh Optometry.
